Dr. Aung is a Queensland trained GP, consulting in the vibrant suburb of Newmarket, Brisbane. He has special interests in Children's Health (Paediatrics), Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Sexual Health (including HIV and Hepatitis C treatment), and Chronic Disease management. He has worked in various specialities including Paediatrics, Emergency, Surgery, Medicine and Orthopaedics throughout his residency, focussing particularly in General Medicine and General Paediatrics. This experience has guided him towards General Practice training where he completed additional Paediatrics training at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital prior to gaining his specialist Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Aung continues to be involved with medical education through Griffith University, working as an Associate Lecturer and is involved in medical student selection. In addition to his Fellowship, he holds a Diploma of Child Health from University of Sydney. He also worked as a GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, to build skills and knowledge of this life altering condition. He holds membership of the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine, and is a s100 prescriber of HIV medications, PrEP, and Hepatitis C treatment.
He is passionate about providing strong multifaceted General Practice care to his patients, working on disease management as well as disease prevention, to aim for optimum health. He strongly believes in whole person centred care, focussing on the physical, mental, and social aspects of a person's wellbeing. To this end, Aung focusses on patient education as a significant part of his consults, allowing for the patient to become an informed and active participant of their own care.
